Luxury Photographer Dresses

I have always loved big flowy gowns. Something about dressing up and getting your picture taken is so fun to me. And I love being the one behind the camera to capture all your good sides. When I first started my business, I saw a picture from another photographer that had what I would call an amazing luxury photograph, and I was hooked. This is something I want to do!

I gathered any gown I saw that would fit in the category for a luxury photographer. I want my clients to have lots of options when they book me. Since this wasn’t something that was popular, I have funded most of the gowns on my own. Saving up along the way for each new piece. The more I got, the more obsessed I became.

The Beginning

One day, I was doing a shoot with another photographer and we needed an extra gown for our shoots! We looked and looked but just weren’t finding one with the style we wanted. Then I had the crazy idea to make my own gown for this luxury photoshoot. The other photographer found this amazing fabric and I started working on it.

It was a few days full of sewing as my sewing machine broke several times on me, so I ended up hand sewing the entire dress. I finished this amazing gown literally just a couple days before our big shoot! It was amazing to get to make my own dress as a luxury photographer.

The dress is this amazing gold shimmer with a hint of pink hue on it. The sleeves are open along the top, giving a slight peek a boo cold shoulder. Then the skirt has the perfect twirling skirt and a glorious empire waist that is cinched off with a golden ribbon. The other photographer made this gorgeous headband that we added to the look. It was my first time making a dress and I couldn’t believe how well it turned out.

As a luxury photographer, I want all my clothes to be eye catching and glorious! Making this dress opened up the door and made me see how easy it was once I set my mind to it, to make more dresses that would then be up to my standards for my shoots!

Adventure Photoshoot Techniques

When you go out on an adventure photoshoot with me, I’m going to bring along an arsenal of techniques and things I use to snapping that supreme shot.

Get the Details of your adventure photoshoot

When you are taking pictures, it’s easy to forget about the details. Make sure you take a step in closer and get those small details. A hand caressing the cheek, flowers in a bouquet, a whisper in an ear…

Full Body Shot

Getting your full body is also a fun photo op as it provides aspect to the detail shot. Doing a first close up of you and then some full body shots from further back will give a fun variety. For adventure photoshoots you want to get some dimension in your album.

Take a Step Back

We also want to make sure we grasp the scenery around you. Getting the eye for how amazing things are around you is another perk to add to your album. We enjoy taking photos of the adventure your are on for your photoshoot.

Create Movement

Giving a variety of poses as well as prompts helps us get those sweet moments in between. We may have your run to a tree, swing in for a kiss on the cheek, twirl around in your ballgown or toss your gown in the air. When you go on an adventure photoshoot, you want to get lost in the atmosphere that surrounds you. We are there to document your adventure and add some pizzazz when needed.

As an adventure photographer I know that what you bring to the table is important. The moment often only happens once and it is our goal to be there ready to capture it. Bringing gear and equipment that is capable of holding up to the demands is key. This is the gear I use the most during a session. I have backup pieces that I pull out for special circumstances but this list is my main jam!

Camera – Nikon D850

These are my favorite lenses that I use the most often:
Tamron 35mm Prime Lens f1.8
Nikon 50mm Prime Lens f1.8
Nikon 24-120mm f3.5-5.6

Here are a few of our favorites from adventure photo sessions!

My main goal in adventure photography is capturing emotions. Funny thing is that most emotional moments happen in a split second. I enjoy having gear that is capable of snagging that quick moment and freezing it in time!

This gear is my favorite for indoor as well as outdoor sessions. I love being able to have gear that snags the indoor lighting situations well also. Take a peak at a few of some indoor shots!
